Pasadena, Calif.-based child care matching startup Kinside is acquiring LegUp, a Seattle-based child care enrollment startup.

The two companies are not releasing financial details about the deal. LegUp’s three-person team will join the 25-person workforce at Kinside.

“By bringing our two companies together, we accelerate the speed of this mission and take what has historically been a fragmented, complex search and enrollment process and simplify it so families and child care providers can thrive,” LegUp CEO and co-founder Jessica Eggert said in a statement.

Eggert, who currently lives in Florida, co-founded LegUp in Seattle in 2019 after she spent too much time trying to find child care for her son. Garrett Vargas, who previously worked as an engineering executive at Expedia, is LegUp’s chief technology officer.

The startup provides software to child care providers for scheduling, payment processing and communications. It has raised a total of $1.2 million.

Founded in 2018, Kinside is an app-based marketplace for child care providers. The company primarily works with employers to offer child care as an employee benefit. It has raised a total of $16 million.
